Academic Integrity at Scholar Genie
We build a coach, not a ghostwriter.
Our principle
Scholar Genie is designed to make students better at studying and writing on their own, not to do their work for them. Every feature is evaluated against a simple test: does it help the student learn something, or does it replace the thinking?
How the Writing Coach works
The Writing Coach reads a student's draft and gives specific, categorized feedback — thesis strength, argument coherence, evidence–claim fit, counterargument vulnerability, prose precision. It is explicitly prompted, with hard guardrails, to:
- Never rewrite the student's sentences.
- Never generate replacement text.
- Never produce new thesis statements, topic sentences, or body content.
- Ask Socratic questions that surface gaps the student must close themselves.
- Name problems and tactics — not rewrites.
The student still has to write every word of their paper. The coach just makes the next draft noticeably better.
How Practice Exams work
Practice exams are generated from a student's own study material (their notes, their textbook chapter, their professor's review guide). They are intended as rehearsal before the real test. We do not, and will not, provide answers to in-progress graded assessments or actual exam items.
What we ask of our users
Use Scholar Genie to understand the material, rehearse, and sharpen your own writing. Don't submit AI-generated text as your own — our tools are specifically designed to avoid producing that, and attempts to pressure them into doing so violate our Terms of Service.
For educators & institutions
If you're an educator and would like to verify how our guardrails work, request a syllabus-safe walkthrough, or discuss campus deployment, email integrity@scholargenie.com.
